Access healthier than ever

Press Release - Wednesday, May 04, 2005

Access Accounting is showing the IT industry and the rest of the UK economy how to minimise working days lost through sickness. At the same time, it is enjoying a significant increase in turnover and profitability.

The national trend for sickness absence is 4%, which equates to 9.1 working days per employee per year. In contrast, Access Accounting loses less than 1.4% man days through the same cause.

"There can be few companies of comparable size who can claim an equivalent performance," says Managing Director Alistair O'Reilly. "This is testament to two distinct factors: firstly, the dedication and professionalism of our staff; and secondly, the way we have been able to optimise our resources."

This optimisation has been achieved using the company's own software. The Access Absence Module allows managers to quickly and consistently record all types of absence at company, department and individual levels. This information is used to shape company policy, in order to minimise absence and focus attention on employees who need additional support.

These absence figures certainly seem to be influencing productivity. For the year ending June 2004, Access announced a £1.2m increase in turnover. This represented growth of more than 24% on the previous year. Profit before tax increased to 15.5%.

This trend is continuing: in the first half of the current year, there was a further 15% increase in turnover.
