Eurotek is Ireland’s longest established supplier of broadcast and professional video equipment. It represents many of the world’s leading manufacturers and has almost 35 years experience in the design, installation and support of video and graphics systems of all sizes.
Following the completion of a major television project, Eurotek is continuing to strengthen its expansion plans for Ireland, the UK and overseas. With this in mind, the company recently undertook a thorough review of its accounting systems. After two months spent carefully assessing a variety of mid-range accounts packages, Director John Roche decided to upgrade from his existing Access Accounts Horizons (LAN) solution to Dimensions, the flagship product of the Access range.
Once its CRM and Hire Booking solutions are operating in harmony with Dimensions, Eurotek will turn its attention to integrated e-commerce trading. Promises of effortless integration were something John Roche quickly grew to be wary of. “Most of the dealers who wanted to sell us a packaged solution had little understanding of the business and deployment implications involved in systems integration. Even though they were our existing suppliers, Access Ireland paid careful attention to our requirements and functional descriptions”, he said.
Indeed, Eurotek feel that the abilities of the supplier need to match those of the software. They were already familiar with the levels of service and customer support provided by Access Ireland, and considered Access Ireland to be one of the industry’s primary innovators. “We were able to work in partnership with Access and to benefit from their accountancy and Project Management skills. As for the software itself, this is continually being enhanced to meet the demands of a rapidly changing marketplace”, concluded Roche.
Upgrading from one Access solution to another brought its own advantages. Because all Access products share a similar style of user interface, Eurotek staff quickly understood how to make the most of the additional functionality provided by Dimensions versus Horizons. Access also has a policy of only charging the price differential between two of its packages - making a Client/Server solution that was already competitively priced even more affordable
When Access Dimensions went live in Eurotek, they felt it had accomplished all its software objectives, on time and within budget. “We are now looking forward to meeting the challenges and opportunities presented by ecommerce trading”, says Mr Roche.
