This position involves QA testing of our software products including the documentation of these for both user help and training materials. Ideally, you will be qualified in a relevant computing discipline or hold an ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing. A good team player, you will also have the ability to work alone and the determination to thrive on new challenges as they arise.
The best QA Testers are able to analyse and interpret specification documents and define test requirements, execute a comprehensive suite of scripts and manage the error process through the entire test cycle. In addition to this, they are very organised individuals with good communication skills. They also need to be self confident with high levels of energy and are continually focused towards understanding customer needs. To do this they need to understand the issues affecting the business, grasp the detailed elements of the problem and then be able to appreciate how the software can resolve this.
Must have at least 2 years previous experience in a QA role. Must be working for a software company who supply the same standard software package to different commercial organisation (i.e. not an in-house QA department for a bank).
Product Knowledge/QA
The individual must have a ‘can do’ attitude whereby they are willing to put themselves out for the sake of others. This will include: sharing best practice and product knowledge with other staff on the basis that something new has been learnt or established, publishing technical bulletins to the knowledge base systems, team work etc.
The applicant will have hands-on experience of testing a commercial (manufacturing or distribution) business software application and an appreciation of commercial issues. Be able to deliver a testing solution that validates product enhancements and ensures no adverse impact to existing functionality. Good levels of communication skills are required along with a well organised approach to day-to-day activities. The individual should also be able to prioritise and reschedule workload in line with changing business priorities, display initiative and have the ability to drive their own development.
